The Wharf Rat Rally started 5 years ago with 750 motorcycles attending. In our 5th year (September 2009) we hosted 23,000 motorcycles and over 80,000 visitors to the Digby and Southwest Nova area. Peter Robertson and Alex Joannides developed the concept while visiting Laconia and basically said "Why Not Digby?"
The current Board of Directors thank them for their work at getting this rally started and wish them well in their present positions outside of Atlantic Canada.
This is an event that has had credible growth and will continue to grow. After 5 years we (the Rally) have achieved National and International news coverage, as well as TIANS Ambassador Award which gives the rally recognition as a driver for tourism and the economy. We are presently the largest event of this type in Atlantic Canada and expect to be largest in Canada in 2010.
